Quarters by year and facility

Every quarter production figure we could trace to the U.S. Mint, 1900 to 2011, with the years the sources don't cover marked as such. Each row names its source.

“From 1916 to 1930, the Mint produced the “Standing Liberty” quarter designed by Hermon A. MacNeil.” (U.S. Mint) “In 1932, an image of George Washington designed by John Flanagan replaced Liberty on the obverse of the quarter. The design change honored Washington’s 200th birthday.” (U.S. Mint) “In 1965, the Mint removed silver from the quarter and the composition became copper-nickel clad.” (U.S. Mint) Since 1999 the reverse has changed with each program; the Mint's list ends with the American Women Quarters of 2022 to 2025. Our production figures stop at 2011.

Designs

Year by year

Columns are production facilities. Where every coin in a column carries the same mark, the mark is under the heading; otherwise it's beside each figure. “Mark not stated” means the Mint's report gives the facility but not the mark. A dash means no figure from that facility within what the row's source covers, and each row with a dash says what that is: for 1900 to 1963 the Mint's record counts every coin struck, so a dash means none; later sources cover circulation coins only, so a dash there doesn't rule out proof or collector coins from that facility. Shaded rows combine more than one design.

This is 1974 calendar-year production, not the full count of 1974-dated coins: the 1975 report says some of its 1975 production was also dated 1974. “Includes 161,680,710 Bicentennial dollars, 378,514,000 Bicentennial half dollars, and 816,568,000 Bicentennial quarters. Other coins of these denominations were dated 1974. Coins of other denominations were dated 1975.” (Mint report)
– : none from that facility in the report's general-circulation table. Proof and collector coins aren't in that table, so a dash doesn't mean the facility made no coins.

1975 calendar-year production, a mix of 1974-dated and 1776-1976-dated coins; the report gives the Bicentennial part only as an all-mints total. “Includes 161,680,710 Bicentennial dollars, 378,514,000 Bicentennial half dollars, and 816,568,000 Bicentennial quarters. 1980–1998Not published in the sources we checked. No calendar-year or dated counts in the sources we checked. The annual reports we could read for fiscal 1982 to 1988, 1990 and 1992 count coins manufactured by fiscal year, not by calendar year or date, so their figures can't be matched to the date on a coin; the text of the fiscal 1997 and 1999 reports has no calendar-year coin table either. The other reports for these years were image-only scans we didn't transcribe, or failed to download.
